Within no time the Junghans brand, originally founded in 1861 and housed in Schramberg, Germany became one of the most prestige’s watch and clock manufacturer’s ever known.
The company was considered the world’s largest watch factory, with well over 3,000 employees producing more than 3 million watches a year. Yet the wristwatches were introduced at a much later date 1928 to be exact. The first models from the legendary ‘Meister’ range became a fact in the 1930’s, they were alleged to be the finest watches the company had ever manufactured.
At first glance you wouldn’t expect this Junghans watch to date from 1931, this beauty has been stored away in clean and dry environment for 90+ years and it looks as if it just rolled out of the factory. It carries the in the house gold gilded and beautifully finished J80 caliber movement with the distinctive Junghans star logo which had been introduced as early as 1890. The indexes and brand name have been printed in silver onto the pitch-black glossy dial, this has been executed with such remarkable precision, unbelievable. The original strap is still attached to the stainless steel case.
