Simply breathtaking wouldn’t you agree.
Treasured for a life time with so much affection, I mean how else can you look this amazing after 70 years, yet no facelift has been carried out, no unnecessary polishing, sometimes you find watches that have been polished to a degree that the case has totally lost its shape. Nothing of sorts in this case. The remarkable 14ct thick golden watch case with striking shaped lugs is signed L&K which stands for Lutringer & Kammerer a watch case-makers in New York, who was part of the American branch of Longines-Wittnauer, Saint-Imier, Switzerland.
The case has a very private message hidden inside and written by hand, it reads:
‘Richie - Love Always – Marian - 25 - 61 – 8’
The stunning original two-tone dial has a light ivory color with fine black lines and the silver satin ring is interrupted with golden Roman numerals and studs. The Longines logo is a raised winged hour glass. The time can be read by following the glossy gold pencil-shaped hands.
It gets even better inside, caliber 22A was the very first automatic Longines launched in 1945, and it is in sparkling condition. As I might have brought to your attention on earlier occasions the rotor has two extra buffer springs attached to the automatic rotor to provide an extra safety for the rotor axle, genius invention.
The serial number indicates it dates from 1952.
To top it off we added a fresh new animal friendly light shade moss-green strap.
