We found these unworn "New Old Stock" earrings still on their original velvet displays, signed AD, which stands for "Amerikaner Doubles", the jury is still out on the exact meaning, maybe it refers to a double layer of gold? They have 18-karat gold loops, and the rest is 18-karat gold plated on sterling silver. The stones have a vibrant orange/red coral color, but they are simply too bright to actually be coral. The pair on the display are slightly different. These stones are held in place by a prong setting, and the earrings are hallmarked 333, which indicates 8-karat gold. The total lengths vary from 13-15+ mm. Don't be fooled by the display: these are tiny earrings, and the coral stones hang just below your earlobe. They close at the front, so you'll need some practice to get them in correctly, it takes a bit of practice, but you'll soon be able to put them on without a mirror, although I always recommend double-checking. The advantage is that these types of closures never get caught in your scarf. They were made in Germany around the turn of the century. A beautiful color to wear amidst the autumnal hues
