This definitely falls under the category of ‘Costume Jewelry’, which means the jewelry, is not made of precious materials; however, the craftsmanship can still be amazing, as it is in this case. This set is of such a high quality, I have never seen another so beautifully made. Surprisingly the pearls are not strung on thread as you would expect, but these are strung on a thin chain, this is something I have only ever seen on jewelry from Jakob Bengel.
The simulated pearls are created is luscious hues; dark cream, grey and black. The chrome push clasp closure works perfectly and is adorned with slightly off-white crystals. The base of the earrings is gilded brass, with a daisy motif along the rim, and with a large grey pearl center, surrounded by tiny grey- and cream-colored pearls and each with three rhinestones. The only thing I could give comment on is the fact that the set is made of different base metal, this could suggest it might have be joined together at some stage, who knows? Never the less, it looks rather amazing as a set. Costume jewelry has been around for about 300 years, it allows the consumer with less to spend to afford a necklace, or the customer who didn’t dare to wear the real pearls in daytime wear them with an ease. It’s a very elegant, affluent looking triple strand pearl necklace with matching earrings, and with Christmas just around the corner, need I say more…
