Founded in 1892 the Hamilton Watch Company started out in Amerika, in Lancaster, Pennsylvania to be exact. In 1969 they moved their firm to Bienne, Switzerland and became a Swiss manufacturer of wristwatches. As with many watch manufacturers they started out with pocket watches, followed by Railroad watches. After WWI and during the WWII they moved their attention to wristwatches. They even went so far as to stop the production for civilians, and concentrate fully on the engendering of military and aviation watches, including marine chronometers and deck watches. The Hamilton Watch Company created a perfect blend of Swiss precision and an American mentality, that was constantly on the lookout for new challenges, feeling the need to keep evolving and broaden their horizon. In the 50’s they starred as the watch manufacturing powerhouse of America. Hamilton has been around since forever; they are to this day still manufacturing watches, not half as nice though ![]()
This Hamilton has just the most spectacular case, check out the curve on those lugs, I bet you've never seen lugs like this. The case is glossy except for the sides of the case. The back is screwed down, and reads Hamilton, Anti-Magnetic, Shock-Resistant, Water-Resistant and Stainless Steel. Though Hamilton produced their own in-house movements they did make exceptions. This high quality, reliable Swiss automatic wind movement with sweep second function caliber 661 is based on the Swiss Certina caliber 25 movement. The Swiss Hamilton 661 caliber was in use from 1951-1960. Every detail on this watch is original, only the strap is added, though it is unused and vintage. The photo’s do not do the Hamilton justice, it looks absolutely stunning in real life...
