This Art Deco Movado belongs to the celebrated Acvatic line. Introduced in 1935, the Acvatic was Movado's first wristwatch designed to be water-resistant, dust-proof, and air-tight. Its distinctive name combines the Latin word aqua (water) with Movado's vision of a robust, all-weather sports watch, built to withstand everyday exposure to the elements. The inner anti magnetic shield provides an additional layer of protection for the movement. The use of the inhouse Swiss MOVADO caliber 150MN started in the 1910 and kept running till 1969. The 150MN was the workhorse of Movado in this era. Though it was considered an architecture purebred. Instead of a Geneva stripes finish this movement has received a lovely linear engine turning pattern, and beveled edges. The purebred quality continues to the case which carries instinctive Art Deco styling particularly around the distinctive bull-horn (or scarab) lugs. the case is signed FB - François Borgel. widely regarded as one of Switzerland's finest watch-case manufacturers and renowned for producing innovative waterproof cases for many prestigious watchmakers. The watch is relatively small in diameter, but hugely compensated by the lug-to-lug size of 39.5 mm. The crown has a nice shape, and good grip. The original pitch-black dial looks amazing, with a sub second at 6 o’clock, with that recurring concentric circles pattern, that always tends to catch the light in a particular manner. The case is glossy except for the back and sides, which are brushed.
We paired the watch with a durable black cotton canvas strap, with a stainless-steel buckle, which tops it off nicely.
