In the 1930’s Tissot made history with the creation of the first anti-magnetic watch, setting a new standard for reliability. And in 1938 the Tissot Watch factory took part in a sports event in Villars-sur-Ollon as an official timekeeper at several ski sport races.Tissot not only produced reliable watches, they too proved to be a reliable watch factory, that kept a high-quality watch business running steady since1853.
This Art Deco Tissot wristwatch is ‘New Old Stock’, meaning it has never been worn. This doesn’t mean it has been kept in cotton wool, mind you, it has some very insignificant scuffles, and the dial has a couple of tiny specs, but other than that is looks like new. The case almost feels sharp to the touch. The crown is unblemished and has a superb grip. The Swiss 20caliber movement was produced by Omega. Which is not surprising as Tissot merged with Omega in the year 1930. The 20-caliber movement was launched in 1932, and according to the reference numbers the Tissot dates from 1937-39. The beautiful mineral glass crystal is ever so slightly domed, just enough to follow the curve of the case. The case is made of the Swiss patented ‘Staybrite’ stainless steel. The dial is stunning, the two-tones are separated by a glossy mirror frame. The hour and minute hands are made of blued steel.
We left the original strap the watch arrived in attached, it is a real vintage strap with a lovely shaped buckle, it is very smooth and soft, it has a slight indentation from the simulator, but otherwise it looks great and suits the Tissot nicely.
This sleek stylish sophisticated Tissot watch is a great size for many a wrist…
