For the Mathey-Tissot Watch Company it all began in the breathtaking region of the Jura Mountains, Switzerland in 1886. Safely tucked away in a valley between the mountains is a place called ‘Ponts de Martel’.
Mathey-Tissot initially concentrated their efforts on the "repeater" movements that could 'chime' (gong sounding) at the hour and half-hour. Short thereafter they begun the constructing and producing chronographs/stopwatch movements. Their real breakthrough began when their watches became hugely desirable for the military due to their utterly reliability, high quality and accuracy. For which they received numerous prestigious awards. The Mathey-Tissot Watch Company supplied thousands of watches for the US and British military forces, throughout the first and second world war.
The Mathey-Tissot travel watch at hand is so utterly rare, I dare to say you will never find a second one. I made a video to show you how easily the case opens and closes, it has a strong spring and sturdy mechanism, which works amazingly.

The sterling silver case with black lizard layer looks superb. The black enamel inlays around the dial are so refined, and the filling in the numerals looks unblemished and nicely aged. What more can I say, stunning, one of a kind, pocket-travel-desk watch.
