The Bulova Accutron ‘Deep Sea’ 666 Feet is otherwise known as ‘Devil Diver’ hence the 666-foot depth rating.
This is such a catchy ad slogan from Bulova, ‘If you’ve got the guts, we’ve got the watch’ and even though it wasn’t used on this particular Bulova it would have suited it perfectly. In those days diving was considered the real deal when you held your breath under water and only wore skimpy swimsuits and flippers. So, no full equipment gear, unlike SCUBA diving. Skin diving sounds so much more appealing, surfacing back up for air...
This handsome devil, fulfills all the expectations. Beautiful pitch-black dial, with raised glossy Accutron letters, luminous hour markers and matching dauphine hands. The sturdy, yet sleek stainless-steel case, is topped off with the stunning black and red acrylic bezel. This bezel is unique and a contrast to the common inserted aluminum bezels. The original crown with tuning fork logo is situated at the 4 o’clock, giving it a quirky look. We left the original slightly dome shaped crystal, with an integrated cyclops date magnifier in place, it has a few fleabites here and there, but these are only really noticeable when you enhance the photos.
The electric tuning fork technology was/is so revolutionary, it stands in a whole league of its own, and it only takes the one 'humming bird' on your night stand to spoil your well-earned beauty sleep ;o)
