The Lemania Watch Company was founded in 1884 by Alfred Lugrin, not officially named as such, this occurred much later when his cousin joined in the venture in 1928. They focused on the creation, engineering of chronograph movements, complications, repeaters, movements with extremely long power reserves etc. Due to the depression Lemania sought out others to stay afloat. So, in 1932, they joined forces with Omega and Tissot, and gave the partnership the name; SSIH, which stands for ‘Société Suisse pour l'Industrie Horlogère’. Omega and Tissot stood in the lime light while Lemania did all the ‘dirty work’ (in a matter of speech) they designed, developed, manufactured, and they supplied the watch parts and total movements behind the scenes. In those days Lemania actually produced all the chronograph movements for Omega and Tissot and continued to do so for over 4 decades.
This 1940’s Lemania, has so much going for it.
Check out the extended long curvy lugs on this lovely shaped 35mm stainless steel case. The stunning warm cream and black “Bullseye” dial, with sub second interval. The crown Logo above Lemania on the dial is also visible on the crown, in a raised contour. The case back also has the ‘sei tacche’ notches, to enable you to close the case extra tight. The Lemania is powered by the high-quality, reliable Swiss Lemania 3000 caliber movement with sub-seconds, rose gold plated. This movement forms the basis of the Omega caliber 321. The Lemania 3000 movement, introduced in 1945, features a Breguet balance spring and a regulator with an additional safety pin. This prevents the balance spring from slipping out of position and becoming entangled, which could happen in the event of a sudden fall or impact. We added a warm sand-colored canvas strap, which looks the part.
This watch will definitely brighten up your day…
