The Swiss watch brand name Movado (in Esperanto) literally means 'always in motion', 'relentless in progress' or 'movement'...I found several meanings to the name, so take your pick. It’s definitely something moving forwards. Movado was the first to introduce a calendar graph, with a triple calendar, which was introduced in 1938 and in production till 1954. The Movado Calendograf watch with triple calendar registers the procession of time - in seconds, minutes, hours, days, dates and months. You could go as far as to say that Movado was the pioneer in the upcoming field of measuring the time intervals for days, weeks and months. Inside you will find the inhouse Swiss Movado caliber 475 which is based on the 470. This magnificent movement was design by Frédéric Piguet. The Movado Calendograf with caliber 475 was one of Movado’s most spectacular models and several were exhibited at the 1940 World’s Fair in New York, and at the Basel Watch Fairs. The original dial is two-tone separated by shiny mirrored circles, the seconds scale is red, the date scale blue. The hands and Arabic numerals on the chapter ring are luminous, and the date hand ends with a red-tipped arrow. Did you know that Andy Warhol's name is associated with Movado, as he owned several models, including a Calendograf. You might think my spelling is wrong, but for some unknown reason they truly spelled Calendograf with 'f' at the end instead of 'ph'.
This watch is a 'bundle of joy' packed into a stunning rose gold cap case…
